Description
Hand-coloured photograph portrait on salted paper enhanced with watercolour, of a middle-aged man with grey hair and white beard, known as Prince Sergei Pavlovich GOLITSYN (1815-1888), Governor of Chernigov, Acting State Councilor and Lieutenant General. He is represented in an official military uniform with golden epaulettes embellished with silver monogram "A II" - Alexander II, Emperor of Russia. Multiple medals are pinned on his jacket, among them: the stars of Imperial Orders of the White Eagle and of Saint Prince Vladimir, the Order of Saint Anna, the House Order of the Wendish Crown, the Order of Merit of Philip the Magnanimous, the Order of the Red Eagle, the Imperial Orders of Saint Alexander Nevsky and of Saint Stanislaus. The portrait is signed on the right by the retoucher of the photograph "Fontaine".
