Description
Stage costume ring in brass with openwork scrolled motifs on the side, growing from the fleur de lys (heraldic lilies), embellished in the center with a large emerald stone of rhombus shape. The ring was worn by Sarah BERNHARDT in a six acts play "L'Aiglon" by Edmond ROSTAND, based on the life of Napoleon II, who was the son of Emperor Napoleon I and his second wife, Empress Marie Louise.
The ring was given by Sarah BERNHARDT to the famous Russian dramatic actress Yekaterina ROSHCHINA-INSAROVA (1883–1970) who lived in Paris. Then, bequeathed to the historian of Theater Natella TODRIA (1925-2018), who bequeathed it in 1981 to Alexandre VASSILIEV.
