To Mr Despres, notary
Having to sell the exploitation of a patent in the department of Seine et Marne I take the liberty of addressing you to ask you to tell me if you would be so kind as to take charge of this sale which will be made by auction or amicably according to need. At the same time, I ask you to give me the address of a solicitor who will be willing to represent me in this circumstance. Having his assent and yours I will make known my price and conditions, will I dare, sir, to solicit the admission of a solicitor for my me or to give me his consent to represent me. I ask you for a thousand pardons for the trouble I am giving you and ask you to receive the assurance of the consideration with which I have the honour to be, sir, your humble and most abundant servant
