Stage peasant dress of Solange SCHWARZ, star of the Paris Opera, possibly for the ballet "Giselle". The bodice is made of blue velvet with white cotton collar and three-quarter length sleeves in the same flower embroidered cotton. A blue ribbon goes through the edge of the collar neckline and ties on the back. Long skirt of the gown is in pale blue taffeta.Solange SCHWARZ (1910 - 2000) joined the corps de Ballet of the Paris Opera in 1930. From 1933 to 1937, she was the principal dancer of the Opéra Comique and performed in particular the ballets "Jeux de couleurs", "Pantoufle de verre", "Le Lac des cygnes", "la Rosière du Village", "Reflets".
She resigned in 1937 and was promoted to Principal Dancer of the Opera de Paris with her interpretation of Swanilda in "Coppélia". During this period, she danced numerous creations by Serge LIFAR including "Bacchus et Ariane" (1931), "Alexandre le Grand" (1937), "Divertissement" (1938), "Le Chevalier et la Damoiselle" (1941), "Les Animaux Modèles"(1942), "Suite en Blanc" (1943).
She is the first woman with Lycette DARSONVAL to obtain the title of star of the Paris Opera in 1940 with the Ballet "Entre deux Rondes" by Serge LIFAR where she plays Degas' Dancer.
Solange SCHWARZ left the Opera in 1945 and danced with Roland PETIT at the Ballets des Champs Elysée, then with the Compagnie du Marquis de Cuèvas.
Maurice BEJART began his career with her in a duet in 1946. She left the stage in 1957 with her favorite role in "Coppélia".
