Description
Sarcofage-shaped wooden scent box decorated on all sides with a rectilinear pattern made with cut steel nails. The lock is drilled in a small mother-of-pearl plate which can be closed with a key typical of Madame Irlande's fancy shop and decorated around it with an arabesque motif. The (empty) interior is lined with red velvet and once contained four porcelain or crystal vials.
Ancient property of noble French families de COSSÉ-BRISSAC and de PÉRUSSE des CARS, belonged to the descendant of Amédée de PÉRUSSE des CARS and Mathilde de COSSÉ-BRISSAC, Count and Countess des Cars.
