Description
Masquerade gown consisting of a long waistcoat in blue cotton satin, trimmed with white wool, imitating fur, the waistline accentuated with a matching belt, a long skirt also trimmed with wool on the bottom, a Russian kokoshnik style headdress, decorated with blue sequins and round white pearl beads, a matching pearl neckace, and a pair of gloves.
Snegurochka (also named Snegurka), or The Snow Maiden, is a character in Russian fairy tales. In the late Russian Empire Snegurochka was part of Christmas celebrations, in the form of figurines to decorate the tree and as a character in children's pieces. This costume could be created by a Russian emigrant in France, after the Russian revolution.
