Henri CARTIER-BRESSON (French,1908-2004)

Henri CARTIER-BRESSON (Chanteloup-en-Brie 1908, Montjustin 2004) was a French humanist photographer, considered one of the major artists of the 20th century. A pioneer in photojournalism he covered many of the world biggest events including the Spanish Civil War and the events of May 1968 in France. He was also a pioneer in the genre of street photography, and he develop the style that he later called the search for the "decisive moment". He was an user of 35 mm film and to him the camera was "an extension of the eye". CARTIER-BRESSON was one of the founding members of Magnum Photos in 1947.
