Lucien VOGEL (French, 1886 -1954)
Lucien VOGEL (Paris,1886 -1954) was a French publisher, creator and director of several newspapers.
In 1912 he created his first magazine, the "Gazette du Bon Ton", a collection of illustrations and editorials, with his wife. He creates "The Parisian Style", a small illustrated periodical that will be bought two years later by Hachette; the review "Les Feuillets d'art" in 1919 and "L'Illustration des modes" in 1920 wich will become "Le Jardin des Modes". Following the resale of the Gazette in 1921, he joined the "Éditions Condé Nast" and became artistic director of "Vogue France" for three years. He was the Commissioner of the Soviet Pavilion at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1925. In 1928, he launched the magazine "Vu".
