Filippo BARATTI (Italian, 1849 - 1936)
Filippo Baratti was born in Trieste in 1849, which was then part of Austria-Hungary. From his early years it is known that he exhibited a canvas in 1868 at the Esposizione di Belle Arte in Milan. From 1869 to 1972 he exhibited various canvases at the Societa Promatirice di Bella Arte in Turin.
During this period his work was largely inspired by themes from the Orient, making him an important representative of the Italian school of orientalists.
At a later age Baratti moved to Paris and London, among others. In London in particular, he started to focus more on painting landscapes and cityscapes. Died in 1936
