Princess Obolensky (American (Russian origin), circa 1930 - circa 1970)

"Princess Obolensky" was a ladies shop based in New York at 417 Park Avenue. Owner of the shop was Princess Lubov Troubetzkoy born Obolensky (1912 Moscow– 1991 New York), wife of Prince Serge Grigorievitch Troubetzkoy. Her fashion designer career started in Paris with a fashion house TAO founded by Princess Maria Sergeyevna Trubetskaya, Maris Mitrofanovna Annenkova, and Princess Lyubov Petrovna Obolenskaya, who created its name from the first letters of their family names. TAO was closed down in 1928. soon after moving to New York, Princess Obolenskaya opened a store on Park Avenue specializing in first-class lingerie and small items for the boudoir— her sister. Countess Lamesdorf, continued to sew for the New York store. The business was so prosperous that the princess ran it for forty years. She was able not only to support her family but to help other people and took part in charitable receptions in the 1930s. Obolenskaya loved musical concerts, often holding them in her home until she was very old. She died at the age of ninety-two in August 1980, and is buried at the family plot in the Mount Olive cemetery in Queens, New York.
