Adele-Anaïs COLIN TOUDOUZE (French, Paris 1822–1899)

Adele-Anaïs COLIN TOUDOUZE was a French fashion plate illustrator, miniaturist and watercolorist. She was born to a painter and lithographer, Alexandre-Marie COLIN and his wife, who was also a painter. Wife of Gabriel-Auguste TOUDOUZE (Sign "Anaïs Colin" and, after her marriage, "Anaïs Toudouze"). Mother of the novelist Gustave TOUDOUZE, painters Edouard TOUDOUZE and Isabelle TOUDOUZE. Adele-Anaïs COLIN TOUDOUZE did work for over 27 fashion publications during her career. She was the illustrator of the major fashion magazines of the nineteenth century.
