House of Binant (French, 1823 - 1937)

The house of artistic supplies and decoration, very long located at rue de Cléry, was founded around 1823 by Bruno BINANT, paper maker, merchant of paint, who added to his activities the trade of paintings; it is continued by his son Alfred BINANT, who becomes specialized in canvases of very large dimensions. This last branch of the activity is the only one preserved by BINANT then his son-in-law Paul HADROT, in vast premises at 70, rue de Rochechouart, while the house of artistic supplies at the rue de Cléry was at the time directored by SOUCHARD .
