Paco RABANNE (Spanish-French, born 1934)
The real name of Paco RABANNE is Francisco RABANEDA CUERVO. Born in Pasaia (Guipúzcoa, Spain) in 1934, his stylist mother worked for the House of Balenciaga. Paco RABANNE was barely four when his family moved to France. He studied architecture in Paris, but soon he entered the world of fashion. During the first years, he creates accessories for creators like GIVENCHY, DIOR and BALENCIAGA. The appearance in the 1960s of his first collections was a surprise because of the use of atypical materials, such as aluminum or plastic. The creations of Paco RABANNE also appeared at the cinema, for which he dressed, among others, Jane Fonda in the film "Barbarella".
