Hikmet ve Haşmet (Turkish, was active c. 1930-1955)
Hikmet ve Haşmet was a prestigious millinery located in Ankara, Turkey. Following the Hat Revolution of 1925, Ankara became the center of modern Turkish fashion. Shops like Hikmet ve Haşmet played a crucial role in bringing European-style elegance – such as the cloche and pillbox hats – to the Turkish capital. Most active from the late 1930s through the 1950s, Hikmet ve Haşmet were custom milliners, creating sculptural, one-of-a-kind pieces for the Ankara elite and socialites of the Republican era. Such prominent milliners were typically found in the fashion hubs of the time, such as Ulus (Anafartalar Avenue) or the emerging Kızılay district. Like many traditional millineries, the business likely phased out in the end of 1950s.
