Fortnum & Mason (British, founded in 1707)

Fortnum & Mason it's a 18th-century British upmarket department store, founded in London’s Piccadilly in 1707 by William FORTNUM, who was a footman in the household of Queen Anne in that time, and his landlord Hugh MASON. Since then it remained an essential destination for anyone in search of extraordinary food, exceptional service and joy-giving things, including luxury fashion items and accessories. Fortnum's reputation was built on supplying high quality food, and it saw rapid growth throughout the Victorian era. The main store has since opened several other departments, such as the gentlemen's department on the first floor, a famous tea shop and several restaurants. The millinery had played a big part in the story of Fortnum's. When the store expanded in the 1920s, millinery quickly became one of its earliest and most fashionable successes. Over the following decades through the 1950s, 60s and 70s, Fortnum’s has collaborated with legendary names such as Lanvin, Otto LUCAS, Philip SOMMERVILLE, and David SHILLING, making the store a go-to destination for stylish, couture headwear heritage in the world of millinery. In 2010s they even had their own in-house milliner. To celebrate that heritage, the company collaborated with Chapeau! London, who are a unique retail experience dedicated to showcasing Britain’s finest millinery and making exclusive, high-quality designs accessible through prominent showcase locations. Fortnum has its own showcase at Piccadilly store, spotlighting designs by some of Britain’s most sought-after milliners: Jenny ROBERTS, Lisa TAN, Martha LYNN, Sarah CANT, Stephen JONES and Victoria GRANT. The main store still is located at 181 Piccadilly in the St James's area of London, and there are additional stores at The Royal Exchange, St Pancras railway station, Canary Wharf and Heathrow Airport in Greater London, at Victoria Dockside in Hong Kong, as well as various stockists worldwide. Fortnum & Mason holds two royal warrants, granted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
