Marty Fuerst (American, 1952-1984)

Marty Fuerst Shoes was a high-end shoe store located at 19163 Livernois.(Avenue of Fashion) in Detroit, opened by ex-merchandise manager in May Co. department store chain Marty FUERST and his wife Adele. The street itself considered a premier retail destination in the 1950s and 60s. The store was active during the heyday of the Avenue of Fashion, spanning the 1950s through the mid-1970s. The store, which was closed after Marty retired in 1984, is fondly remembered in Detroit for high-quality customer service, such as fitting children for school shoes.
