Marjon (British, active in early 1950 – 1978)
Marjon Couture Ltd. was a fashion company established in the early 1950s in London and ran until the mid 70s. The brand design was created by Mr. JONAS.He gave the name Marjon to his brand after the first wife Marie. Items created by the company in the 1950s had a label "Marjon Couture", but closer to the 1970s a double name "Trina Lewis and Marjon Couture" appeared. Trina LEWIS was a business woman and dressmaker who created an ingenuous strapless bodice made of cambric and boned and taped for structure and support. This became widely acclaimed and made her a household name as it negated the need for the most tiresome of undergarments - the boned bra. In 1973, a lawsuit was filed regarding Mr. JONAS's expenses, which were met by Mr. BAKER, when Mr. JONAS was overseas on business or travelling. This appears to have led to the brand's bankruptcy.
