House of Chevalier (French, 1760 - 1889)

The house was founded by Louis Vincent CHEVALIER opticien and mirror maker in 1760 located Quai de l'Horloge in Paris. His son takes back the business after his death and create the first universal microscope and became interested in daguerreotypes. Before closing in 1889, the House formed an other very famous optician : Camille-Sebastian NACHET who's at the origin of "Nachet and fils" one of the most prestigious house of microscope maker in Europe until 2010.
