Georg Sörman (Sweden, founded in 1916)

AB Georg Sörman it's Sweden menswear fashion company, that was founded in 1916 by 30-year-old Georg SÖRMAN from Västergötland, who was a so-called "minute trader" at that time. He opened his first clothing store on Stora Nygatan in the Old Town of Stockholm to sell fabrics and clothes for women, children and men. As his business was flourished, in 1928 he had to open another store on Västerlånggatan 57, also in Old Town. In 1937 1937 the store on Stora Nygatan moved to larger and newly built building on Kungsholmen, S: t Eriksgatan 41. The range was changed and the store had created a well-reputed name as pure men's equipment, a specialty that Georg Sörman brand still retains today. The charming and genuine interior from the 1930s that was once delivered by NK's furniture carpentry to the store on S: t Eriksgatan 41, it's neon sign and the well-known slogan "Well-sewn Men's News" still live on and are highly valued by both companies and customers. During the Capital of Culture year 1998, Georg Sörman received first prize for best neon sign. Today the company is run by Georg SÖRMAN's granddaughter Birgitta together with her husband Lars-Olof NILSSON in the same good spirit.
