Herr von Eden (German, founded in 1998)

Herr von Eden it is the modern German menswear brand, which style is inspired by highlights of past fashion decades, but still reflects the spirit of the times. It was founded in Hamburg in 1998 by Bent Angelo JENSEN, young Danish born self-taught designer, who opened so named small shop, that specialized in used suits in the style of exclusive men's outfitters. JENSEN called his concept "Open Wardrobe": the shop was stocked with upscale second-hand goods that JENSEN had collected over the years. He rented suits and jackets to customers for a certain monthly rate. In 1999, Bent designed his first suit, which was tailored by his older sister Britta JENSEN, who was a trained seamstress and was working in Copenhagen fashion school in that time. In the next 15 years JENSEN opened three stores in Hamburg, Berlin, and Cologne, where he sold a complete collection, which was manufactured in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. After filing for bankruptcy in 2013, JENSEN restructured his business and concentrated on menswear only. Typical features of the Herr von Eden look are velvet and tweed jackets, flannel trousers, cashmere coats, and colorful silk ties and pocket squares. JENSEN himself calls his fashion style "Windsor Punk" and his fashion role models are Ermenegildo Zegna, Etro, Vivienne Westwood and the designs of the young Yves Saint Laurent.
