Pronuptia (French, founded 1958)
The first ready-to-wear wedding dress boutique in Paris, Marie and Henri Micmacher's house, was founded in 1958. The house quickly became a favorite destination for young women looking for the bridal dress of their dreams at a low price.
In 1987 the house called on Jean-Paul Gaultier to design its collection, presented on the occasion of the event "la Nuit Blanche du Mariage", organized by the brand to celebrate the values of marriage.
In 1989 Thierry Mugler imagined four models of dresses for Pronuptia. The collection was presented at the Rex, for an evening that will remain in the annals of Parisian cinema.
In 1997, Christian Lacroix turned to putting his talents at the service of Pronuptia. The designer imagined for the brand a collection of eight entirely handmade dresses, the design of which had required nearly three months of work for each.
In 2008 to mark its fiftieth anniversary, Pronuptia was creating a stir by unveiling an exclusive and magical wedding dress, produced in just 50 copies. Named Noce d'Or and designed by stylist Elizabeth Barboza, the dress was being presented for the first time at the Courchevel figure skating gala.
In 2014 Pronuptia became an official partner of the Miss France competition, for which it creates gala dresses.
Among the brands dedicated to weddings, Pronuptia is one of the best known.
