House of Eyle (French (Russian origin), Paris 1921 – 1926)

Eyle fashion house was a Caucasian house of fashion, opened in 1921 in Paris, and originally located at 6 rue Boissy-d'Anglas. Another Parisian adress is 10 Place de la Madeleine. It belonged to the wealthy Armenian woman, Russian emigré, Tamara Agadzhanovna MAILOVA, née DILDAROVA, the wife of Ilya Lazarevich MAILOV, a merchant of the First Guild. This house specialized in artistic knitting, and produced coats embroidered in silk, and embroidered purses. Eyle's workshops were funded by money obtained from the sale of jewelry smuggled out of Russia. According to the owner's son, about seventy Russians, mainly aristocratic women, worked there. The fabrics at Eyle came from the house of Lessure and the articles were sold in Paris, Nice, and Cannes. The clients were mainly American women, who adored Caucasian exotica. Tamara drew the designs, and the artist ASLANOV assisted her. The house of Eyle folded with the death of the owner in 1926.
