Nicolas YAROVOFF (Born russian in 1883 - based in Uruguay)

Nicolas YAROVOFF, is the professional name of Nikolai JAROVOFF, photographer born in 1883 in Russia where he was a photographer at the court of the Tsar before immigrating to Uruguay after the Russian revolution. Based in Montevideo, he also has a studio in the city of Sarandi, now a district of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He photographed the main personalities of the Russian art world passing through Latin America. He was also one of the first employers of the famous Russian photographer Anatole SADERMANN. His son Teodor (Fyodor) YAROVOFF (1913-1989) took over the Buenos-Aires studio in the 1930s. Then he opened a studio at No. 313 rue Artigas in Mercedes under the name: Foto de Moda, after several years he transfers his studio to Rivera (Uruguay). He died in September 1989 in Santa Ana do Livramento in Brazil. His daughter Vera YAROVOFF will take over the Montevideo workshop.
