House of Rodier (French, founded 1852)

Rodier is a French fashion house, originally founded in 1852 as a house of weavers. It gained fame in jersey and accompanied the greatest couturiers of the 20th century such as Coco CHANEL and Christian DIOR. The brand has only really been known to the general public since the 1960s thanks to its knitwear. Rodier knitwear was adopted by personalities of the time such as Brigitte BARDOT, François SAGAN, Grace KELLY and went “around the world”. In 1966, Rodier was the world's leading ready-to-wear company and sold 2 million pieces a year. The Rodier woman of the 1980s was represented by Linda EVANGELISTA and Claudia SCHIFFER. Since 2004, Rodier has been bought by the company "Folia", specialized in the import / export of knitted products. It is trying to breathe new life into Rodier with, in particular, clothes that are more fluid and closer to the body.
