Oliver GINTEL (American, Cracow 1903 - 1991 New York)
Oliver GINTEL was an American furrier, based in New York for more than 60 years. He was born in Cracow and immigrated to the United States at the age of 2. He entered the fur trade after graduating from Commerce High School.
Oliver GINTEL owned the House of Black Diamond in Manhattan, a manufacturer of mink coats that he bought in the early 1970's and for which he was also designer. He dressed multiple celebrities, and he collaborated with important jewellery houses, such as Cartier, to embellish his furs.
He sold the business in the early 1980's and retired in 1989.
Oliver GINTEL was a director and president emeritus of the Associated Fur Manufacturers Inc. and a board member of the Fur Trade Foundation.
