Henry WEISS (Russian, 1855 - 1924)

Hereditary honorary citizen, supplier of the court of His Imperial Majesty, merchant of the 2nd guild since 1893, Heinrich Karlovich WEISS, owned several shoe workshops and a factory, made shoes for the Russian Imperial family and the high society of both capitals. It is interesting that he did not immediately become the Supplier of Alexandra Feodorovna. His application for the title of Supplier to Empress Alexandra Feodorovna in 1899 was rejected, but in 1902 he was already Supplier to Empress Dowager Maria Feodorovna and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. In 1905 he became the Supplier of the Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich. Henry WEISS's store was located in St. Petersburg at 66 Nevsky Prospect. And he lived at 8 Karavannaya Street with his wife Anastasia Stepanovna; sons Victor (1878-1926) and his second wife, Ekaterina Mikhailovna; son Nikolai (1903 -?) and daughter Tamara; Anatoly (1890-?) and his wife Tamara Elsa Matilda. His sons Viktor and Anatoly continued their father's work. Victor owned a factory and a shoe store, and Anatoly owned a boot shop under the "H. Weiss" firm.
