Jean Marie BARRONNIER (French, Paris 1907 - 1981 Chaumont)
J.M. Barronnier is a French workshop run by Jean Marie BARRONNIER, Maitre Tailleur, and Louisette CARLIER his seamstress wife, and specializing in ceremonial uniforms for the gendarmes, soldiers and firemans, active in Chaumont (Haute Marne) 13 rue Ferrer, in the middle of the 20th century.
Jean Marie BARRONNIER was born on September 2, 1907 in Paris 14th arrondissement. He is the son of Ernest PEYRE-BARRONNIER (1875-1921) Registrar in Paris and of Charlotte Marie VINVIOLET-MONTARNAL (1870-1844). He married on September 28, 1929 in Paris, Louise Germaine CARLIER (1909-1981). The couple probably settled in Chaumont, in Haute Marne, around 1928 - 1930. The city being a garrison town where an artillery regiment was already located, and where, in 1928, the training of the new gendarmes was ensured within the 12th company of the 3rd legion of the mobile republican guard of gendarmerie.
