Wesenberg & Co (Russian, 1865 - 1912)
Wesenberg & Co was a photographic studio in Russian Empire founded by Jacob Johan Wilhelm WESENBERG (1839 - 1880), a photographer, since 1865 his workshop "Wesenberg and Co" has been working in the Strubinsky house on the Fontanka river embankment, 55. In December 1882, Heinrich TOLVANEN became the owner of a workshop in this house and in 1884 transferred the Wesenberg & Co photo studio to the Makarov house on Voznesensky Prospect.
The studio situated at Voznesensky, 26 from 1885 to 1899; then at Voznesensky, 32 from 1900 to 1912.
In September 1899, Heinrich WESENBERG became the owner of the workshop in the Makarov house, and Heinrich TOLVANEN opened a workshop on Vasilievsky Island.
In the early 1900s, Heinrich WESENBERG changed the name of the workshop. In July 1912, Lydia RUDNEVA became the new owner of the photo studio, and in the received ownership documents the studio was referred to as "Wesenberg G."
