Chaika is a Russian watchmaking company founded in 1943 in the town of Uglich. The factory started with the production of movement parts and stones. Gradually the full-cycle production of watches and movements was organized. Preparations for the construction of a factory for precision technical stones began in 1937. Construction began in 1938. The assembly of the plant was completed in 1942. Initially, the factory produced watch stones from corundum and ruby. In 1950, a conveyor was mounted for assembling Zvezda watches from parts of the Penza Watch Factory. Since 1954, the plant has been called the Uglich Watchmaker. He specialized in the production of wristwatches, gems for the watchmaking industry and corundum needles for turntables.
