Established in 1986 by Dirk BIKKEMBERGS (Belgian, born January 2, 1959 in Cologne, Germany), a member of the avant-garde fashion collective known as the "Antwerp Six”, over the years the brand has developed a style that exudes straightforward self confidence. Dirk BIKKEMBERGS was born in Cologne, Germany, from a Belgian father and a German mother. After high school, he decided to start studying in Belgium, at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. In 1982 BIKKEMBERGS graduated, along with other Belgian designers: Ann DEMEULEMEESTER, Dries VAN NOTEN, Dirk VAN SAENE, Walter VAN BEIRENDONCK and Marina YEE. Together they make themselves known under the name of "Antwerp Six", a group of avant-garde and influential stylists, all graduates of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in the early 1980s and who made Antwerp a must-see fashion city. The Bikkembergs line was presented in 1996 with the aim of reaching a wider market. Heiress to the first line in its very essence, demonstrating the same power, the same character and the same level of performance, the new Bikkembergs line is defined from the start with its own personality, perfectly combining glamor and relaxation. Ready to move on, Dirk set foot in Milan in 1998. Since then, the first line has been presented twice a year during Milan fashion week. Dirk BIKKEMBERGS was the first stylist to fully understand and work on the potential of football, considering it the quintessential universal language of the 21st century. The Belgian designer has made himself famous for his unique ability to bring together two very distinct worlds, that of fashion and the world of football. He was the very first stylist to be allowed to host a fashion show at a football stadium. Thus in June 2001 took place at the San Siro stadium in Milan, a fashion show which caused a lot of attention and which was a decisive step for the House of Dirk Bikkembergs. In 2003 the time had come for the official arrival of the Bikkembergs Sport line.
