House of Rouff (French, 1844 – 1914)
House of Rouff was located at 13 Bd. Haussmann in Paris and was one of the first couture houses in the late-19th into the 20th century. Rouff was known for the lingerie feel to their garments, which always included a multitude of ruffles and laces. Maison Rouff was one of the leading names of Paris couture during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly known for their elegant and highly ornamented daywear. The business closed during the early 20th century. It was a separate entity to the Paris couture house Maggy Rouff, which opened in 1929 and closed in the 1960s, although the two are sometimes confused.
