César Eugène VILETTE (French, Meung-sur-Loire (Loiret) 1823-1895 Deauville)
César Eugène Villette was born November 13, 1823 in Meung-sur-Loire (Loiret) and died October 22, 1895 in Deauville. He was a photographer in Paris. In 1861 and 1865, he exhibited at the French Photography Society. In 1862, he received an honorable mention at the London World's Fair.
He was active 21, rue de l'Odeon (1861) and 40, rue des Saint-Pères (1865-1871). In 1865, he opened a branch in Deauville, avenue de l'Hippodrome, near the casino, a strategic place. Before 1872, Villette gave up his Parisian studio and worked only in Deauville. Villette's career will continue until the early 1890s.
In Paris, he was replaced by François Veysset (1826-1884), who was his operator. He will retain the signature E. Villette on his portraits.
